Sound films are a transportive element in my work. They evolve through ekphrastic poetry developed prior to or alongside the visual development of the painting and speak to major themes highlighted in the life stories of the painted figures. They grant a deepened agency to the associated painting whilst maintaining an immediate mystery which may be unraveled to the engaged viewer. I prefer to refer to them as sound films, instead of sound poems due to the layered sounds elements referencing nature and human activity intermingled with the words of poetry to create immersive imagery and flow.
